VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The volunteer programme promotes community development and personal growth by equipping young people with new skills as they serve others.
Targeting school leavers in particular, the programme provides training to prepare participants for volunteer work in various communities and organisations. Volunteers get opportunities to apply their skills, acquire new ones, and, in some cases, transition into paid volunteer roles. At this stage, participants may also take part in exchange programmes and organisational placements both within our library initiatives and in partner organisations.
Rhodah's story before and after pictures.
Rhodah has been a member of our library since its inception. She is one of our members who was with us back when our library was an open-air library under the mango tree. She used our educational resources and participated in our activities up until she completed secondary school.
Fast-forward to 2025. Rhoda has joined our school leaver volunteer program, where she is thriving and learning new skills while helping others. Her hours of volunteering have proved essential during the periods when our library is understaffed, making her contributions truly essential.
