PEAK initiative

About PEAK initiative
In 2022, the Global Fund for Children (GFC), with support from the LEGO Foundation, launched the Partnership to Educate All Kids (PEAK) initiative. PEAK was designed to address the critical challenges children worldwide faced due to learning disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2022 to 2024, Natubelenge Children’s Library was privileged to be one of the eight PEAK partners in the Zambian cohort. Through the PEAK partnership, our library strengthened its capacity through collaborations and GFC’s flexible funding. The PEAK initiative emphasized incorporating play into learning activities. As a result, our “learning through play” activities significantly increased the number of children and young people visiting our library, with participation of over 5,000 children during the two years of the project.
Our library has adopted the PEAK initiative, which has continued as the Learning Through Play Project. This project has greatly improved children’s learning, attendance, and participation in our activities. According to UNICEF, children play to practice skills, try out possibilities, and discover new challenges, leading to deeper learning.
