Our Story
Na tubelenge Children’s Library
Was born out of pure love for children and the desire to improve the quality of their lives. It is a community-centered charity organization that was started in 2015 by two friends (Nachizo and Mainess). It first started as an open-air library under a mango tree in the backyard and later graduated into an actual library with walls after realizing the high levels of illiteracy and the poor reading culture amongst children in communities.
We are an umbrella of three main projects: Literacy, Learning through play & Access project
Our Mission
To fight illiteracy and end the poverty cycle in communities by ensuring that all children have access to books, teachers, learning activities, and technology.
Our Values
To plant innovative children’s libraries in communities and create societies that thrive.
Our services
Literacy Classes
Illiteracy levels are high in our community, especially among growing children. This has manifested in ignorance, poor reading culture and slow learning progress. The consequences of illiteracy are many and harmful in several aspects.
Arts & crafts
Our Children's Arts & Crafts sessions are crafted to inspire curiosity and unleash the creative potential within each child. From finger painting to paper folding, every project is a journey that encourages experimentation, self-expression, and the joy of bringing imagination to life.
Reading camps
Natubelenge reading camps are play-based reading intervention camps. Activities are designed to help children develop a love for reading. Beyond the joy of reading, our camps offer an abundance of engaging activities.
Storytime Sessions
We transform the art of storytelling into an enchanting adventure for children, that sparks their imaginations and fosters a lifelong love for books. Where every story is a magical portal to boundless worlds of wonder!
Native games
Step into a world where the thrill of friendly competitions fill the air. Join us for children's Native Games, where tradition meets playfulness in a safe environment. Beyond books, we celebrate the heritage of play, offering a haven for children to connect
Board games
Fridays at our library are purely for winding down and socialisation. We offer a range of Board games that provide an engaging and educational way for children to have fun while developing various skills.
Book lending
Due to the frequent temporal government-mandated closures caused by the covid-19 pandemic, in 2019, our library came up with a book lending program, that allows parents/guardians to borrow books on behalf of their children.
Digital Mondays
In a world that is constantly changing especially technologically, children should not be left behind. Join us for Digital Mondays, an exciting weekly adventure that introduces young minds to technology.
